Birding Guide

Bernat is an evolutionary biologist and ornithologist from Tarragona. He has extensive experience as a birder and bird ringer across many European countries, where he has studied the vocalisations, plumage and behaviour of a wide range of bird species, including passerines, raptors, waders and seabirds. He has been particularly involved in monitoring programmes and migration ringing campaigns in the Moroccan desert (Merzouga), several sites in the Iberian Peninsula (such as Doñana, the Ebro Delta and the Pyrenees), and in Sweden (Falsterbo and Uppsala). He has also contributed to the translation of the ID Handbook of European Birds (Nils van Duivendijk, 2024) and is currently working at the Catalan Ornithological Institute, where he is involved in monitoring and conservation projects, for example on the endangered Aquatic Warbler.
