Ivan is the tour leader of our birding tours in the North of South America. He is a Biologist and one of the most skilled and experienced Bird Guides in Northern South America. Originally from Venezuela, he moved to Colombia in 2017. With 1,697 bird species observed in the country, he ranks among the all-time top 5 birders with the highest species count. He collaborates as eBird reviewer for the Northern Region of the country, and holds the historical record for the individual Big Year in Colombia, a feat he accomplished unintentionally (at the beginning). He has contributed as a field researcher in the most recent expeditions to some of the country's remotest areas.

Rafa describes him as having a superpower for bird identification, as his talent to recognize even the most insignificant bird chirp is absolutely amazing.
