Birding Guide

Nil Macià is a young ornithologist and bird ringer from Montseny, passionate about birdwatching, fieldwork, and outdoor activities. He holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Girona, a master’s degree in Ecology and Conservation, and a postgraduate qualification in African Wildlife Conservation. He has traveled to Kenya and Canada in search of wildlife. However, the place he knows best is Catalonia, a region he has explored from top to bottom.

A large part of his work focuses on environmental education, both with schools and through courses for all audiences. He also carries out extensive fieldwork, participating in scientific bird ringing projects as well as other types of vertebrate monitoring. He has worked mapping the territories of birds in open summit habitats in the Montseny Natural Park, and monitoring bird recolonization following habitat restoration across Catalonia. He has also collaborated on several biodiversity monitoring projects in the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac Natural Park.
