A 7-day Wildlife Photography Tour led by Rafael Armada.

Photographing the Iberian Lynx alongside Iberian raptors and nocturnal mammals in Sierra Morena is one of the most complete wildlife photography experiences in Europe. The programme combines dedicated lynx hide sessions in a core breeding territory with specialised raptor and nocturnal mammal hides in a second private reserve, working a wide variety of species and light conditions in a single itinerary. Designed for small groups, it's a professionally guided immersion into one of Europe's key Mediterranean ecosystems, with part of the net benefits allocated to Iberian Lynx recovery.

Trip Overview

This exclusive photography experience takes you deep into Sierra Morena, one of Europe's last strongholds for the Iberian Lynx — a species that has rebounded from fewer than 100 individuals to over 2,000 in the wild. Working from purpose-built hides in a core breeding territory, and guided by Rafael Armada, you'll have the chance to photograph this elusive predator hunting, interacting, and marking its territory in complete comfort and natural light.

Beyond the lynx, a second private reserve opens up a dedicated raptor and nocturnal wildlife component, broadening the week's scope considerably. Expect sessions with Spanish Imperial Eagle, Golden Eagle, Bonelli's Eagle, Griffon and Cinereous Vultures, Goshawk and Eagle Owl, complemented by carefully managed nighttime encounters with Genet, Red Fox, and Stone Marten.

Designed for small groups and structured around quality field time rather than rushed sightings, this programme offers a complete immersion into one of the Mediterranean's most important ecosystems. Part of the trip's net benefits go directly toward ongoing Iberian Lynx conservation efforts, making it a journey that combines world-class photography with genuine conservation impact.

Where and when?

In southern Spain, several key territories now hold stable breeding populations, making encounters increasingly reliable under the right conditions.

Spending time in these Mediterranean landscapes allows photographers to work natural behaviour and environmental images while respecting the species and the conservation framework that made its recovery possible.

The Lynx can be photographed throughout the year, with activity patterns influenced by season, temperature and prey availability.

A closer look at our lynx Location

Based in southern Spain, the itinerary combines specialised photography hides with additional opportunities for Mediterranean wildlife and Bird Photography, depending on season and timing. Sessions are structured around light and activity patterns, maximising your chances of meaningful encounters rather than rushed sightings.

Our estate sits within one of the strongest Iberian Lynx territories in the region, and it offers:

• More than 10 different Lynx individuals regularly use the estate, including adults, subadults and cubs.

• The Andújar population holds the highest genetic variability within the species, making it a cornerstone of long-term recovery.

• Lynx are frequently observed hunting, interacting and marking territory.

Hides designed for long sessions with maximum comfort:

• No spy-glass (full light, natural sound).

• Rail systems for gimbal heads in selected hides.

• Air conditioning in summer and underfloor heating in winter.

• Bathroom facilities inside the hides.

• Hides are accessible for guests with reduced mobility.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Lynx activity is monitored continuously, including live camera systems to assess behaviour and optimise sessions. However, as with all wild animals, sightings and photographic opportunities cannot be guaranteed and will depend on daily activity.

The Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus) is one of world’s rarest felines.
