A domestic flight from Lima to Tarapoto, followed by the transfer to Moyobamba. On the way, we may stop at a steep-walled creek to photograph Oilbirds. Depending on our arrival time, we can start working in the gardens of the lodge in the afternoon. Vuelo doméstico de Lima a Tarapoto y traslado a Moyobamba. Por el camino, podemos parar en un arroyo encajonado entre paredes de roca para fotografiar guácharos (Oilbird). Two full days at Waqanki, working with hummingbirds at the feeders and around the native flowers of the lodge gardens. Among the regulars are the White-necked Jacobin, Rufous-crested Coquette, Fork-tailed Woodnymph and Golden-tailed Sapphire. A morning drive up to Abra Patricia, climbing to almost 2,000 m. On the way, we stop to look for local specialities such as the Wire-crested Thorntail, Blue-fronted Lancebill, Black-throated Brilliant and Rufous-throated Sapphire. Pujada al matí fins a Abra Patricia, fins a gairebé 2.000 m d'altitud. Two full days in the cloud forest of Abra Patricia, where the change in altitude brings a whole new set of species. Highlights include the Royal Sunangel, Peruvian Racket-tail, Sword-billed Hummingbird, Long-tailed Sylph and Emerald-bellied Puffleg. Dos días completos en el bosque nuboso de Abra Patricia, donde el cambio de altitud trae consigo un conjunto de especies totalmente nuevo. Entre lo más destacado están el Royal Sunangel, el Peruvian Racket-tail, el Sword-billed Hummingbird, el Long-tailed Sylph y el Emerald-bellied Puffleg. Dos dies complets al bosc de boira d'Abra Patricia, on el canvi d'altitud porta tot un nou conjunt d'espècies. Entre les més destacades hi ha el Royal Sunangel, el Peruvian Racket-tail, el Sword-billed Hummingbird, el Long-tailed Sylph i l'Emerald-bellied Puffleg.

Two full days at the Huembo Reserve, focused on the Marvelous Spatuletail, an endangered hummingbird found only in Northern Peru. It isn't an easy bird to photograph, so patience and care will be key, and at this time of year the males show their tails at their best. Other species here include the Andean Emerald, Green-tailed Trainbearer, Little Woodstar and Sparkling Violetear. Dos días completos en la Reserva Huembo, centrados en el Marvelous Spatuletail, un colibrí en peligro de extinción que solo vive en el norte de Perú. No es un ave fácil de fotografiar, así que la paciencia y el cuidado serán clave, y en esta época del año los machos lucen la cola en todo su esplendor. Otras especies de la zona son el Andean Emerald, el Green-tailed Trainbearer, el Little Woodstar y el Sparkling Violetear. Dos dies complets a la Reserva Huembo, centrats en el Marvelous Spatuletail, un colibrí en perill d'extinció que només viu al nord del Perú. We leave Pomacochas for Aconabikh, in the Cordillera Escalera Conservation Area. Set higher than Tarapoto, it is an excellent site for hummingbirds, including the endemic Koepcke's Hermit, Black-bellied Thorntail, Gould's Jewelfront and Grey-breasted Sabrewing. Dejamos Pomacochas rumbo a Aconabikh, en el Área de Conservación Cordillera Escalera. Situado a más altitud que Tarapoto, es un lugar excelente para los colibríes, entre ellos el endémico Koepcke's Hermit, el Black-bellied Thorntail, el Gould's Jewelfront y el Grey-breasted Sabrewing. Deixem Pomacochas en direcció a Aconabikh, a l'Àrea de Conservació Cordillera Escalera. Situat a més altitud que Tarapoto, és un lloc excel·lent per als colibrís, entre ells l'endèmic Koepcke's Hermit, el Black-bellied Thorntail, el Gould's Jewelfront i el Grey-breasted Sabrewing.

A last session at Aconabikh, with more time for its specialities, before our late evening flight back to Lima. Una última sesión en Aconabikh, con más tiempo para sus especialidades, antes de nuestro vuelo de regreso a Lima a última hora de la tarde. Una darrera sessió a Aconabikh, amb més temps per a les seves especialitats, abans del nostre vol de tornada a Lima a última hora del vespre.

If your flight home leaves in the afternoon or evening, we spend the morning on a boat trip to the Palomino Islands, just off Lima, to photograph Humboldt Penguins, Peruvian Boobies and Inca Terns, along with hundreds of South American Sea Lions. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport, where the tour ends. Si tu vuelo de regreso sale por la tarde o por la noche, pasamos la mañana en una excursión en barco a las Islas Palomino, muy cerca de Lima, para fotografiar pingüinos de Humboldt, piqueros peruanos y charranes incas, junto a cientos de lobos marinos sudamericanos. Por la tarde, traslado al aeropuerto, donde finaliza el tour. Si el teu vol de tornada surt a la tarda o al vespre, passem el matí en una excursió amb vaixell a les Illes Palomino, molt a prop de Lima, per fotografiar Humboldt Penguins, Peruvian Boobies i Inca Terns, juntament amb centenars de lleons marins sud-americans. A la tarda, trasllat a l'aeroport, on finalitza el tour.
